Edmonds Driftwood Players is a unique and amazingly creative community that welcomes many different people in all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. The desire to share stories, build a show and entertain the audiences unites us in ways unlike other connections. People are willing to lay aside religious, political and cultural backgrounds to come together and share the experience of creating drama and music. In this acrimonious society we navigate today, these connections become valuable doorways to listening and hearing one another; not always agreeing but sharing respect and valuing the humanity of each person onstage, backstage and in the front of house. If you’ve never participated in community theater, you are missing an opportunity to experience connection, struggle, and triumph ending in the applause of the audience for a job well done. The process is messy and full of pitfalls but exhilarating!
It’s a well known fact that everyone has something to share with the world – giving of their time, talent or treasure – to make the world we live in a better place. The quote above by Winston Churchill certainly sums up the idea well.
Everyone can participate in theater. Some act onstage, seen by the audience. However the unseen members of the team, the crew members and backstage techs, are always in demand. We are willing to train and mentor those interested in helping. If you are only available to volunteer for a few hours, you might want to learn how to work our box office or sign up to usher. It may be that you are unable to give of your time or talent. Would you consider sharing some of your treasure? Donations breathe life into organizations – large and small! Arts organizations like Edmonds Driftwood Players are especially grateful for those who support us.
Please check out the story in The Everett Herald today to find out how your time, talent, and treasure can breathe new life into smaller arts organizations like Edmonds Driftwood Players.
Thank you for supporting the arts!
