First Draft! is an opportunity for playwrights to “test-drive” their completed play in front of an audience. Actors present the piece on stage “readers-theater” style. After the reading there is a moderated Q&A session with the dramatist. We hope you will join us as we bring yet another exciting live arts experience to the Edmonds community! Admission is FREE.
First Draft! dates for 2016/17 Season are planned for September 25, January 15, February 26, March 26, May 7, and June 18 (all dates subject to change). Readings begin at 7pm in the Wade James Theater at 950 Main Street, Edmonds. Please call the office at 425.774.9600 if you have questions about the schedule.
Have a finished play that you would like to submit for consideration for a First Draft! staged-reading? Here’s how:
Original, unproduced, un-staged full-length plays. No musicals, shorts or one-acts (unless two one-acts are presented as part of a ‘companion piece’ series). Playwrights are required to be present the evening of the reading. Please Submit:
- A summary of the work
- An electronic version of the work in either ‘.pages’ or ‘.doc’
- A history of the work’s workshops, previous readings and currently scheduled readings to us via our contact form.
- If a piece is accepted, a full production prior to this reading will void the agreement and a replacement will be chosen.
THIS PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO NEW / UNPRODUCED PLAYWRIGHTS.
